What is API anyway

What is API? API stands for Application Programming Interface. We know another type of interface. That’s User Interface, when we engage with a system like Xero or QuickBooks online. It has buttons on the user interface that we can click to ask it to create an invoice, or give us some information, show us some reports, update some details.

In API, it’s the same. Just like the user interface, there’s application programming interface, which allows other systems to create an invoice, get a report, update some information in that system. It gives us the ability to allow other systems, like your inventory system or your point of sale, create data in your accounting system, or retrieve data from it, so you’ve got two separate systems working together without any manual data transfer between them. APIs are an easy way to connect systems, make them work together. If you want to know more, book a session and we’ll have a chat.
