How to automate RCTI with Xero

One of the most requested features in Xero is RCTI, Recipient-Created Tax Invoices. It seems like a really simple thing to do, but it’s probably not there on their priority list just yet. But when things like that happen, that doesn’t mean that you can’t solve the problem. You can just put a temporary solution in place.

One of the businesses that we work with requested this functionality from us to be added to Xero. They had a system that calculates all their RCTIs and generates reports for that. We built a process that takes these reports and enters them into Xero as bills, formats nice PDFs for their supplies, and sent them out to all the suppliers, so here’s RCTI, fully automated. It’s a little plug-in add-on to Xero. That temporary solution has been working now for about three years.
